Kranshoek Hiking Trails
Coastal and Forest Hiking Trail
Kranshoek is located in the Hakerville Forest off the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay about 25km from Littlewood Garden. The area is now part of the Garden Route Nationalpark. In High Season a small entrance fee is required at the beam, otherwise you can issue a so-called "Self-Issued Permit" at the entrance.
The various hiking trails are challenging beautiful scenic coastal walks and forest walks from easy to strenuous with some breathtaking views and unspoiled natural landscapes along the coastline of the African continent.
Trail 1: Kranshoek Coastal Trail (Long)
- Distance: 9,4 km circular trail
- Time: approx. 4,5 - 6 hours
- Difficulty: strenuous, challenging
Trail 2: Kranshoek Coastal Trail (Short)
- Distance: 3,4 km circular trail
- Time: approx. 2,5 - 3 hours
- Difficulty: strenuous, challenging
Trail 3: Kranshoek Forest Nature Trail
- Distance: 1 km circular trail
- Time: approx. 20 minutes
- Difficulty: easy
Trail 4: Kranshoek Scenic Tour
- Distance: 1,8 km circular trail
- Time: approx. 30 - 40 minutes
- Difficulty: easy
Kranshoek Trails General Information
Permit / Costs: Entrance according to SanParks Gardenroute Nationalpark. Obtain a permit from the small office at the boom. If the boom is unmanned issue a "Self Issue Permit". Entrance free for Wild Card Members.

How to get there:
From Knysna take the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay. At the Sasol Petrol station, about 17 km from Knysna, turn right into a gravel road. Follow the road for about 1.7km and than turn right again. Follow the road for approx. 4.2 km to the Kranshoek Picnic Site. Here you can park your car and all hiking trails starts here. It is a beautiful picnic spot on a high plateau above a gorge. We recommend to take a cool box with you and have a nice picnic after your hike
